How to Connect at St. Peter's

There are many ways to become involved at St Peter’s and to connect with the various ministries and people in our community.

The main ones are:

Fellowship

Our primary fellowship is through our weekly acts of worship on a Sunday and a Tuesday.

From these flow:

  • Small groups – these meet on a regular basis throughout the year

  • Social events such as the Advent Quiz and the Maundy Thursday Meal

  • The Church Weekend Away

  • Short courses such as Alpha.

  • Outreach events over Easter and the Advent period

  • Informal chats over refreshments between the 2 Sunday services or the
    monthly brunch

  • Mid-week groups in the café

  • Unity events with other city centre churches.

  • Volunteering to help with one of our many ministries is also a great way to get to know
people and become more involved in the life of St Peter’s

Communications

We send out a weekly email with information on that week’s services, upcoming events and prayer needs. Signing up for this email is a key step in getting connected.

Please contact parish admin to go on the mailing list. There are also a number of WhatsApp groups and we have a voluntary church directory for members of St Peter’s.

Pastoral Care
The best way to access pastoral care is to become a part of one or more of our communities and so become connected to many wonderful people and activities. Some of these are outlined in the fellowship section.

If you need someone to talk to, then please contact a member of the clergy or one of our café chaplains.

Our Pastoral Care Team include Jon Phillips (the vicar), Cath Jones (The youth and families worker), John Brocklehurst and Bob Toan (members of the clergy team)

Prayer

Prayer for each other, for Chester and for the life of St Peter’s is a key part of our connections and
takes many forms, including:

  • Prayers within each service on a Sunday and a Tuesday

  • Prayers for each other on an informal basis e.g. after the service

  • Prayer requests in the weekly email

  • The prayer WhatsApp group. To ask about becoming part of this group, contact parish admin

  • Confidential prayer by a small group of intercessors including Jon Phillips

  • Praying through the church directory.

  • 24/7 prayer events held twice a year. Information for these is included in the relevant weekly email

  • An annual prayer walk around the parish boundary in the summer and an annual prayer evening in the church at the start of the year – again details are included in the relevant weekly email.
